STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL

The 5th Annual Student Film Festival will be honoring young film makers who are making a difference on the Lebanese, Middle Eastern & international film scene.

Indeed, young film makers are receiving applause around the world for their ability to portray their views in a unique way. This year, we are proud to host new universities to our original list, more and more talented guests, and above all offer viewers a larger array of films & workshops. We all hope you have a fabulous week.

The 5th version of the Lebanese Student Film Festival will take place at Notre Dame University – Louaize, between November 6 and November 13, 2011, under the theme: “Young Lebanese Directors Drawing the Future of the Lebanese Cinema”.

In the previous years, the festival honored figures in the Lebanese and Arab Cinema, such as Youssef Chahine, Raymond Gebara, George Nasr, Randa Chahal, Leila Assaf, Jocelyne Saab, Carmen Lebbous, Julia Kassar, Nadine Labaki, Liliane Nemri, and Joelle Touma, and hosted other figures and professionals from the field of Film, Television and Media. This year, we will host young film directors and stars and we will honor the educator of all Lebanese filmmakers and the Godfather of the renaissance of the Lebanese Modern Cinema –the film critic– Emile Chahine, by launching a foundation for Cinema Culture under his name.

Students from the Top 10 audio visual programs of the following Lebanese universities: NDU, LAU, USJ, USEK, ALBA, LU, CLET, AUST, AUT and UPA (Antonine), will be participating this year. The winning films from the Monaco Film Festival 2011 and Zayed University Middle East Film Festival 2011, will be participating as well.

NDU Student Film Festival is building Regional and International film exchange programs with film festivals such as: Monaco Charity Film Festival, Zayed University Middle East Film Festival, and others…

This year’s festival will also host film directors, film producers, and star actors from the United States, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Russia to participate in the festival and to present workshops for Lebanese students from all participating universities.

:: This year’s theme

“Young Lebanese Directors Drawing the Future of the Lebanese Cinema”

Young Lebanese directors are setting a new foundation that will pave the way for generations to come. And thus, during the festival, we will acknowledge a few of these talented individuals.

For long, even as talented individuals with a promising future, we’ve been underrated; however, as young directors on the rise, this is our time to shine and be recognized! We are young… Don’t look at us as a threat, but rather as a gift! We’ll make you proud…
